  • Additional revenue – Post-operative co-management fee paid by ACES. Patients advised to return to you for prescription glasses post-surgery if required.

  • Clinical review – When ACES receives the post-operative feedback form it is reviewed by our experienced clinical team to ensure any further steps required are carried out in a timely manner.

  • Short Waiting Times – ACES aims to treat the cataracts of NHS patients typically within four weeks, removing the need for patients to wait one year or longer in many cases to visit an NHS hospital.

Patient Focused Contact Centre – We have a dedicated Contact Centre who are available to arrange appointments and offer information and advice whenever it is required by a patient.

The ACES Cataract Patient Journey

The below patient journey highlights where services are delivered for the patient by both their community optometrist and ACES.

Our aim is to treat all patients within four weeks of their initial pre-assessment appointment.

1. Refer patient to ACES.

2. Patient attends a Pre-Assessment at an ACES location.

3. Patient is booked for surgery at an ACES treatment clinic.

ACES or Optometrist

4. Patient examined by either ACES or the referring community Optometrist if the practice can provide a post-cataract service at 4 weeks post-operatively.

5. An outcome report is provided to ACES. Any patient recommended for further treatment will be seen at an ACES clinic.

6. Patient to have sight test carried out by community optometrist and prescription glasses provided if required.

The ACES Accreditation Programme has been designed to ensure patients receive convenient, and efficient continuity of care. As a trusted community optometrist, your patients will be looked after, ensuring they receive the essential and critical care they require in a timely fashion.

There are many benefits to joining the ACES Accreditation Programme including:

  • Patient Outcomes – ACES will provide feedback on patient’s outcomes post-surgery
  • Patient satisfaction – Helping you to maintain a loyal and happy relationship with your patients.
  • ACES will pay a fee per eye for post-operative assessment appointment.
  • Patients will be advised to purchase prescription glasses from their referring practice if required.
  • Consistent Communication – Our patient flow provides you with feedback regarding your patients throughout their treatment journey with ACES.
  • Continuity of Care – The programme allows a simple and easy way for optometrists to continue to provide post-operative care to patients. ACES will honour post-cataract assessments should the optometrist recommend further services are required.
